Cooking the Coach B Way
This cookbook was originally designed for collegiate athletes but I realized that many more can benefit from the simplicity in understanding basic cooking strategies.
Healthy eating can be a difficult thing to do in this day and age. Obesity is at all time high, with no signs of slowing down; Life is speeding up and the ease and convenience of less healthier options of eating are flooding the market. These things along with negative images of what healthy is being portrayed all over the media, make it pretty darn confusing on how to eat the best to be healthy as well as perform at a high level for athletics.
This book is intended to help clear up confusion on what healthy eating is and how to incorporate it within our daily lives. Being a coach and an educator first and foremost, I feel it is a responsibility to help our athletes and students not only with on the field coaching and teaching but off the field as well. This book is designed to help give you the knowledge of good nutrition from knowing how to set up your kitchen, to what the macronutrients are, to cooking actual meals that will help you recover and fuel you everyday (they taste pretty good too!).
With that being said, I want to give you tips and tricks that will help with your meal planning, budget preparation and teaching you why you should focus on your nutrition. You’ll find simple tricks that are time tested and actually work – they may take some to implement into your routine, but once you’ve got them down, you will be on your way to becoming better.
Its not easy to eat healthy all the time, but if you want to be the best on the field, court or ice, you are going to have to sacrifice to get out of your comfort zone. If you really want to become a champion in sport or in life, you have to get yourself uncomfortable. And the more you practice healthy eating, the easier it becomes.
The recipes that are found in this book are recipes that have been found to be nutritious, healthy, and tasty! They are designed for athletes and students on the go, which means they should be able to be made less than 30 minutes and with 3 pots/pans or less. I know you have a lot of responsibilities as students, athletes or as a parent and want you to know that healthy eating can be done.
