Hydration

From Instagram Post

Water is important micronutrient of our daily nutrition and health.

It is even more important during the warm summer days to drink more frequently.

Water can help us stay lean while also contributing to enhancing our performance.

Did you know that 60-80% of your bodyweight is made up of water (depending on how heavy you are)?

In addition your muscle cells are comprised of 75% water.

Here are the key benefits of drinking plenty of water each day:

  • Lubricates Joints and improves fascial health (see this for more info on fascia) - Water is what our body uses to lubricate these joints. When our water levels are reduced there is increased friction between moving surfaces resulting in swelling, stiffness and pain.

  • Aids in removal of waste products/Excretes excess sodium…lymphatic

  • Allows the kidneys to function optimally.  This then allows the liver to become more efficient at mobilizing fat.  The result is an increased fat burning capacity in the liver.

  • Acts as a natural appetite suppressant.  Drinking plenty of water tends to make you feel less hungry.

  • Prevents de-hydration; mild de-hydration (1%) can create a reduction in muscle performance.  De-hydration greater than this will cause an even larger decrement in performance.

  • Improves skin appearance

  • Transports nutrients

  • Maintains body temperature

Tips to help you drink more water

  1. Get a Hydroflask or any other kind of large stainless steel re-fillable water vessel

  2. Add Generation UCAN electrolytes to give your water a little calorie free flavor

  3. Set reminders on our phone or watch to ensure you are drinking frequently throughout the day….every 20 min

How much should you drink?

You know if you’re drinking enough water if you’re urine is fairly pale and doesn’t smell strong.

If it’s a dark yellow and has a pungent smell, then you’re most likely already de-hydrated.

Water is a vital part of your body and your life.
Drink Up!
